Sim brings a diverse skill set drawn from the health care, science and research fields to her articles at Harris & Brun. With a Bachelor of Nursing and work experience under her belt at adult emergency, major trauma and surgical centres in western Canada she has an enviable knowledge base. In addition, she has spent time on the research side of the sciences working for Professor Timothy Caulfield at the Health Law Institute. Sim’s articling experience has encompassed all of the firm’s practice areas including gaining courtroom experience. She has been actively involved in both insurance defence work, and plaintiff personal injury files. With respect to the firm’s WCB practice, Sim has assisted with subrogation files, review of worker claims, and is in the process of appealing a decision to the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal (WCAT). Sim will be joining the firm as an associate once her articles are completed.
University of Alberta Law School:
Volunteer – Emergency Room Presenter for the Manitoba P.A.R.T.Y. Program, a program created by the Manitoba Brain Injuries Association, which is aimed at preventing alcohol and risk related trauma in youth.
Before law school, Simrat worked as a Nurse in the Adult Emergency Department, and Internal Medicine ward at a major trauma centre in the Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre. She has also worked as a nurse in Orthopedic Surgery at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.

Sim has a nursing background including experience in adult emergency, major trauma and surgical facilities as well as scientific research experience in health law and policy. As such, Sim brings a unique and valuable skill set to Harris & Brun. Her law school background includes courses in: health law policy, biotechnology law, intellectual property, commercialization of medical research, and international trade law and effects on the domestic pharmaceutical legislation of developing nations.
