Biography

Oliver Wilson is an experienced civil litigator who mainly practices in personal injury, commercial litigation, and insurance law. He has represented clients before all levels of the Courts in British Columbia and various administrative tribunals.

In addition to representing clients in Court, Oliver has negotiated many out-of-court settlements and has successfully represented clients at mediations and judicial settlement conferences.

Before graduating from law school in 2004, Oliver spent two years working for the Office of the University Counsel at the University of British Columbia. He then articled with a law firm in Burnaby with a general practice that included a variety of litigation and solicitor’s work. From 2005 to 2009, Oliver practiced predominantly in the area of personal injury litigation and represented clients in insurance litigation, administrative law, and criminal law matters with a firm in Coquitlam. He then moved to a Vancouver litigation firm where he practiced as an associate and later became a partner before joining Harris Brun as Associate Counsel.

Cases

  • In Rousta v. MacKay, 2017 BCSC 644, Oliver defended a $5.5 to $7.8 million claim for income loss where the plaintiff received a total award of just over $300,000.
  • In Stone v. Ellerman, 2007 BCSC 969, Oliver helped obtain one of the largest awards at trial to that point for a plaintiff who had suffered a soft tissue injury but had returned to work.
