Robert was called to the Bar in 1978 and was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2004. He became King's Counsel as of September 8, 2022. Robert founded Harris & Brun in 1984 with Lyle G. Harris, K.C. He has conducted numerous trials and appeals, and has successfully appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. He is a knowledgeable and experienced barrister practicing primarily in civil litigation and administrative law with a focus in insurance litigation and workers’ compensation law. Robert is a leading practitioner in the application of the statutory worker-worker bar. His opinions on the standard of care of lawyers in malpractice cases have been relied upon in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Harris, K.C. He has conducted numerous trials and appeals, and has successfully appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. Robert has served as National President of the Canadian Bar Association (“CBA”) from 2012-2013, having been elected to the National Executive in 2010. He was elected to the CBABC Council in 1997 and the Executive in 2000, culminating in his presidency of the provincial association from 2003-2004. Robert completed three terms as a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia (“LSBC”) from 2005-2011, not seeking re-election following his election to the CBA Executive.   He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and has served on the BC Justice Review Task Force and CBA Task Force on Conflicts. He chaired the LSBC Equity Advisory Committee and was vice-chair to LSBC Practice Standards Committee.

Robert is routinely invited to chair and present various educational seminars coordinated by Continuing Legal Education British Columbia (“CLEBC”), CBA, TLABC, and Canadian Defence Lawyers.
